Insights and Data
CRM marketing solution provider Optimove has unveiled its latest insights on bettors' wagering intentions for Euro 2024, shedding light on the intricate behaviors and preferences of the average European betting customer. The report, compiled by Optimove Insights, offers a comprehensive examination of both wagering activities and communication preferences that bettors exhibit.
Betting Behavior and Preferences
The research reveals that a significant portion of bettors, precisely 58%, demonstrate active betting behavior, engaging in wagering activities on one or more games each week. Interestingly, 29% of bettors place bets on several games per week, indicating a strong engagement within this demographic. Furthermore, a substantial 76% of respondents place bets at least once a month, highlighting a consistent pattern of wagering activities among European bettors.
When it comes to the types of bets, the study found that over/under bets are the most preferred, capturing the interest of 46% of bettors. Prop bets follow closely behind, with a significant 39% of bettors showing a preference for this type of wager. Additionally, parlays round out the top three, appealing to 35% of bettors.
Analyzing the events on which bets are placed reveals that 57% of bettors wager on Champions League and European tournaments. This is closely followed by national league season games, which capture the attention of 54% of bettors. National tournaments or friendlies attract wagers from 48% of bettors, while national cup games are the focus for 46% of bettors.
Euro 2024 Betting Trends
As Euro 2024 approaches, an overwhelming 84% of bettors express their intention to place bets on the tournament, even if their national team is not participating. This highlights the significant enthusiasm and engagement that the event generates among bettors. Live betting during games also proves to be highly popular, with 83% of bettors engaging in this dynamic form of wagering.
Regarding factors that influence betting decisions, player performance stands out as the primary consideration, cited by 52% of respondents. Expert analysis and betting promotions are equally influential, each impacting 47% of bettors. These insights underline the importance of relevant and high-quality information in shaping betting behaviors.
Marketing Challenges
However, the report also highlights several marketing challenges facing sportsbook operators. A notable number of respondents have abandoned specific platforms due to an overwhelming number of marketing messages or irrelevant content. This serves as a critical reminder for operators to refine and personalize their communication strategies to avoid alienating their customer base.
Industry Implications
The findings from Optimove's report offer a clear guide for sportsbook operators aiming to deepen player loyalty and optimize customer lifetime value. Tailored communication strategies that address the specific preferences and behaviors of bettors can help operators build stronger, more enduring relationships with their customers.
"The results of this report provide a clear guide for sportsbook operators to deepen player loyalty and optimize customer lifetime value," emphasized a spokesperson from Optimove.
